Queen of Samba Contest 2016 - Rules and Regulations:
When: Saturday, December 05, 2015 - 10:00pm
What: The Queen of Samba - Contest, by the Chicago Samba.
Where: Logan Square Auditorium, 2539 North Kedzie (Kedzie x Logan x Milwaukee Ave).

This is an event/contest, hosted by Chicago Samba for the past 21 years, it selects the best female samba dancers in Illinois. "Samba no pe"
which means, the contestant should have samba in their feet, they must know how to dance and express themselves "Sambawise".
Prizes:
1st. Prize Queen of Samba - $250,00
2nd. Prize Princess of Samba - $150,00
Also, The Queen-2016 will have free admission to all Chicago Samba shows. (CS must have control of the door's admission).
The Princess-2016 will have free admission throughout the year of 2016. (CS must have control of the door's admission).
All the finalists will have invitations to work in shows and events with the Chicago Samba.

The participants must be a female, any nationality, any religion, color, race, etc, (this year, over 18 years of age), and must reside in Illinois and/or in
a range of 100 miles from Chicago, this will include some cities in Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. .
A panel of judges, audience, and the members of the Chicago Samba will determine who's going to be the next Queen.
The criteria for the points will be equally divided according to three following sections:
* 1/3 Audience participation * 1/3 The panel of judges * 1/3 Members of the Chicago Samba
What are we looking for our Queen and Princess of Samba?
*Samba-dance, the contestants will have to show innovation and authenticity, style and grace.
*Beauty, the contestants will be judged by their physical poise, overall appearance and coordination.
*Personality, the contestants may have to answer one or two simple questions.

* For this year, please follow the new requirement:
- 1) All the contestants participating need to do a pre sign with Edilson Lima at 773-354-6632 and/or via email: edlima@sbcglobal.net.
- 2) Every contestant "must" wear a Carnival Costume (confortable and free to showcase your skills and talents), for such a competition ( Bikini and a small headpiece).
- 3) You should bring your own costume ( Bikini/Headpiece) pantyhose, make up,shoes and shorts to wear under your bikini.
- 4) If you don't have a costume ( bikini/headpiece), please contact Edilson Lima (Some charges may apply, in case of a rental).
- 5) There is no fee or charge to participate, but all the candidates must follow this new requirements.
- 6) At: 11:30pm, The contestants will do a stage introduction process at Logan Square Auditorium, (same day of the event).
- 7) At: 12:30am, The competition/contest will start for the prize of "Queen of Samba - 2016".

For the contest, all dancers will be dancing and judged for:
Performing 30 seconds of Batucadas = (Samba Rio style) and 30 seconds of Levada Baiana = (Samba Bahia style)
The music will be performed by the Chicago Samba.
The contestants will be wearing different styles of bikinis, be creative...

***NEW RULE! If won the competition as a Queen of Samba in the past, you CAN NOT participate in the contest again.
These Rules and Regulations will be available and printed, during the performances of
Chicago Samba, also it should be read by all the contestants before the contest.
