Marcel Bonfim, (Music director), born and raised in Brazil is a versatile musician. Between studying Brazilian popular music in his country and earning a Master,s Degree in Jazz Performance from DePaul University, he combines the best of two worlds. Marcel,s extensive experience in multiple fields of music, such as Big Band and Symphonic Orchestras, small jazz and Brazilian ensembles, and Musical Theater made him to develop a unique sound and musical sensibility. He had the opportunity to study with the most well know bass players in his country and U.S. such as: Dennis Caroll, Sizao Machado, Itamar Collaco, Roberto Sion and many others. Marcel have played and shared stages with names like: Hermeto Pascoal, Carlos Lyra, Marcos Vale, Helio Delmiro. Presently, Mr Bonfim is the music director and arranger for Chicago Samba.
